There is a certain high in pushing yourself to the limit. Not in parenting or in schooling, but in physical exertion . . .for me. This weekend I was blessed by my sweet husband and my sister and her family. We decided to push it, and take our dear sweet daughters and our colicky son and go to the mountains and visit my the cabin that is owned by my sister's dh 'D'. So we packed up and we headed out, a part of my brain talking myself down about leaving early and knowing how bad it would be.
But it ended up being a really amazing weekend. I ended up being graced with 5 wonderous hours of time alone on a mountain graced with blue skies, 60 degrees, a snowboard and an awesome niece and nephew who were willing to talk me down the mountian (literally).
I rented a snowboard and boots and got an all day lift pass for $70 (thank you military discount) and a dh who was willing to handle the kids and take care of our sweet ds. And off i went, knowing that i needed time alone for ME after over a year of zero time being alone. My niece and nephew totally cheered me up and kept my mind off of the responsibilties of being a mom of a young baby and kept me laughing entire time. But it didnt start off that way.
My brother in law dropped us off. We cinched on our boots and walked down to Bear Valley and got our lift passes. My initial joy was in finding that an all day lift pass cost less then a half day pass due to our military discount. We walked down to the ski area and took a few pics and my bil walked away. My niece and nephew ski'ed and snowboarded down towards the lift and i looked at this init!0
