Back to the grind

Today was the first day back for Lyssa, after 2 weeks of Winter Break. I was personally dreading it; i had really been enjoying the lazy mornings, the days where we decided to do nothing but play all day in the playroom, the ability to run errands in the afternoon, and the best our daily naps. All gone with the wind as they say, now that we are back to our old routine. Today went fairly well, but i find myself hitting the old exhaustion and fatigue that seems to curse this pregnancy. So I'm sitting here on the computer, trying to stay awake (seems to work at 10 pm) while Kiki lays on the couch watching Wubzy since she has a nasty cold and is refusing to nap. Better that way since i don't want to have to wake her up at 2:30 after only 30 mins of sleeping.

We got up around 8 and the girls and i snuggled in bed til about 8:45 am. OK OK, i snuggled, they watched a cartoon til i finally knocked the sleep out of my eyes and got enough gumption to tell my body that i was going to kick this kidney infection or whatever it is that's taken over my body for the last 3 days with pain. We mosied on down to the kitchen and prepared the girls some oatmeal and milk, and myself a Pb&j toasted sandwich since i realized i was out of pineapple and in all reality my normal serving of cottage cheese just didn't seem appetizing since I'd already thrown up once this morning (thank you kidney). We ate a nice breakfast in front of the fireplace and then i gave the girls some free play.

Then we started 'school time' at 9:30. We sat down, went over our learning board with the cows, calf, A, 1 and square. The girls were so excited. Lyssa also asked for us to learn the day, so i brought out our dry erase calendar and we went over the date and day of the week, too. Then we colored and cut out our 1 and A, colored some pages about cows, learned about what a calf was, and read 4 books. We did a few other little activities and by 10:15 i realized we needed to get upstairs so i could get a shower and was happy to see the girls' had thoroughly enjoyed our 'school time'. Next week will be better because i have it all set up to exactly how i want it, this week I'm just going off anther's curriculum.

We went upstairs, the girls got to choose a movie, i showered and blow dried my hair, they got dressed and brushed teeth and got shoes and socks on. Then we all trampled downstairs for a bit more of playtime while i made Lyssa's lunch. I called my midwives about my pain and contractions, we came up with our course of action. I realized i really wanted to do nothing but sleep through the day so as to avoid the pain and discomfort, but no more of that since Lyssa had to be in school and we had to be out the door by 11:30.

And now we are back home, Kiki and i have eaten. We are both fighting off the sleepies, but we only have 45 minutes til its time to pick up Lyssa, so i think we will snuggle up on the couch. No play dates today, since we are under the weather. But i imagine we will pull out the playdoh and qtip painting to entertain the girls' after school. Then we will pop some popcorn and watch a movie snuggled up on the couch with a nice toasty fire til daddy gets home! Dinner is already in the crock pot so i bet he will be able to make the 'sides' and Italian chicken and carrots will be a great way to finish off the day!

Back to the grind. . .

And some pics of what our day and learning area.

Oh my goodness. I had gotten your blog once and then forgot to put it on my list and couldn't remember what it was called, so thank you for posting on my blog! =) You are such a busy lady, you make me look lazy! Look at you doing all this preschool stuff. I really should try to do that with Nate next year for school since he won't be kingergarten age for 2 years. We will put him in preschool the year before kindergarten, but I don't want to do it 2 years...too expensive. Well, I gotta go pick up the girls! Take care!
