Lesson 3
This week's theme is CAT. Cat printout
The vocabulary word is claws –the sharp, curved nails on a cat’s paws.
Materials needed for the week: Workbook, flashcards, Q-tips, paint, stickers, magazines, puppets.
Books to read aloud that support the theme:
The Cat in the Hat – Dr. Seuss, Kitten and Friends – Priddy Bicknell
Brown Bear, Brown Bear – Bill Martin, Jr., Eric Carle, Five Little Kittens – Nancy Jewell
Poems that support the theme:
Five Little Kittens Five little kittens, sleeping on a chair.
One rolled off, leaving four there.
Four little kittens, one climbed a tree
To look in a bird’s nest; then there were three.
Three little kittens, wondered what to do.
One saw a mouse; then there were 2.
Two little kittens, playing near a wall.
One little kitten chased a red ball.
One little kitten, with fur soft as silk,
Left all alone to drink a dish of milk.

Gross Motor Skills Activity: (Monday)
Go over learning board – theme, vocab, shape/color, letter, number.Read Poem/rhyme.
Do a catwalk, purr, ect.
Color letter C and cut out.
Color number 3 cut out, place both on learning collage.
Color activity page/Lyssa does workbook.
Flashcards with Lyssa.
Let the girls’ choose which book to read.
Letter (Tuesday)
The letter this week is the letter C.
Go over learning board – theme, vocab, shape/color, letter, number.
Recite poem/rhyme.
Give your child a printout of the (capital) letter C.
Teach your child to trace the shape of the letter C with Q-Tip painting, place on learning collage.
Point out the letter C around the playroom.
Place C stickers on learning collage.
Color activity page. Let Lyssa do her workbook.
Choose a book to read.
Shape/Color (Wednesday)
This week you will teach about the shape - diamond.
Go over learning board – theme, vocab, shape/color, letter, number.
Recite poem/rhyme.
Introduce the shape on the board.
Everyone draw diamonds.
Grab cat puppets and play with diamond shapes around the house.
Color page/workbook.
Choose book to read.
Sing song.
Number (Thursday)
The number this week is the number 3.
Go over learning board – theme, vocab, shape/color, letter, number.
Read poem/ rhyme.
Show your child 3 objects to count, or eat 3 crackers, 3 cheerios, etc.
Show your child the written symbol (numeral) for 3 and put on your learning collage.
Add 3 stickers to your learning collage.
Draw 3 diamonds on a piece of paper and count them with your child.
Walk around your home counting 3 of many different objects.
Choose a book to read.
Sing song.
Activity: (Friday)
Go over learning board – theme, vocab, shape/color, letter, number.
Read poem/ rhyme.
Color activity page/workbook.
Paint cats and diamonds with qtips.
Let girls choose free play or dress-up time as cats.
